RESEARCH WORK AND ACTIVITIES OF THE COMMISSION

Organisation of online academic debates on selected research topics in folklore.

Extending invitations to the doyens of the Polish folklore studies to deliver online lectures.

Organisation of a Polish nation-wide debate on the new concept of the magazine ‘Literatura Ludowa’ [‘Folk Literature’] (as Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board changed in 2020).

Active participation of the members of the Folklore Commission at the Committee of Ethnological Studies (KNE) of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) in the international online meetings of folklorists held by prof. Dejan Ajdačić within his cycle of seminars on ‘Folklorists about books and magazines’ (the International Committee of Slavists).

Academic cooperation with the Folklore Section of the Polish Ethnological Society (PTL).

Co-organisation of the international academic conference on Paradigms in Slavonic Folklore to be held in Toruń on 20-23 October 2022 (organisers: Institute of Culture Studies at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Комиссия по фольклористике МКС, Folklore Commission at the Committee of Ethnological Studies (KNE) of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).

Preparation and publication of articles in the new ‘folkloristic’ volume (vol. 61: 2022) of the annual ‘Łódzkie Studia Etnograficzne’ [‘Lodz Ethnographic Studies’] titled: CELEBRATION, edited by Teresa Smolińska and Dorota Świtała-Trybek.

Development of an initiative for permanent (systematic) co-operation among academic centres for Silesian research (Opole, Katowice, Cieszyn, Wrocław, Opava, Ostrava) to provide a platform for the exchange of experiences related to the regional culture of Silesia.

Co-organisation of the subsequent academic conference on the cultural heritage of Silesia to be held in Opole in 2023. Organiser: Chair of Culture and Religion Studies / Chair of the Polish Language, University of Opole.

Ensuring cooperation with the National Institute of Polish Rural Culture and Heritage (NIKiDW) to initiate joint actions that promote folklore in rural areas.
